Mark your calendars for August 22nd-24th, 2025 for the Mountain Playshop weekend now held in its new location in  in Montreat, North Carolina.

Mountain Playshop is a regional dance weekend that attracts folk dancers from North Carolina as well as nearby states to socialize, dance, relax and learn a dance or two. Our guest teacher is Catherine Rudin of Nebraska and she will teach international folk dance.

About our Teacher

Catherine Rudin has been dancing since the 1960’s, first in Madison, Wisconsin from junior high school through college and, in recent decades, with the Omaha International Folk Dancers in Nebraska.  She leads OIFD weekly in person and on Zoom and co-leads the Tuesday Zoom Friends group. In her non-dance life, she is a  wife to her husband from Turkey, a mother, linguist, knitter, gardener, and very amateur mariachi violinist.

NEW LOCATION

Location: The dance hall at Montreat Conference Center is a short walk on a level, smooth road from lodging and has water and bathrooms.  Rooms will be available at the Assembly Inn and at the Glen Rock Inn.  Glenn Rock has a kitchen and dining room for our catered meals.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

FULL TIME (Fri., 3:00 pm — Sun.,12 noon)
Includes all teaching, parties, 5 meals, an artists table, and facility use charge.

PART TIME
All meals, teaching sessions, and dance parties can be purchased separately.
